The presentation took place at the Odesa-Media press center, and its main content was the new public image of the managing structure, not on-air programs. The idea for the project emerged in 2012. According to Odesa-Media, the website is aimed at a business audience—that is, at advertisers, partners, and professional counterparties of the holding, rather than at the mass viewer.
As Kozyr explained, the company now has a unified visual and informational face. His words were as follows:
“The Managing Television Company ‘Kozyr Digital’ has acquired a new unified ‘face’”
The holding that works behind the scenes
The managing television company deals not with an individual channel but with the entire infrastructure around it. Its tasks include ensuring the operation of the holding, which comprises six television channels: A1, Zdorovye, GTV, GNews, Odessa Fashion Channel, and KTK. This format is typical for regional media groups, where several channels with different themes operate under a single management framework. For such a structure, a separate corporate website becomes a tool for negotiations with advertising clients and partners, so the emphasis on a business audience is logical in this case.
At that time, Odesa remained one of the main regional centers of Ukrainian television, and local media holdings competed not only for viewers but also for advertising budgets. In these conditions, the visual packaging of the business began to play almost as significant a role as the broadcast.
A design appreciated by professionals
In 2015, the logo of the KTK channel received a Best of award at the Ukrainian Design competition, one of the main professional showcases of Ukrainian design. The developer of the website and logo for Kozyr Digital is named by Cyclopedia as the studio Sponge, citing that publication; however, the studio is not mentioned in the presentation text itself. This is an important caveat, as it shows that the public attribution of the work rests on secondary sources.
By that time, Sponge was already a prominent player in Ukrainian web design. The bureau's founder, Bohdan Hnatiuk, headed the studio; the executive director in 2014 was Kyrylo Soliar, as he recounted in an interview with Innabits in August 2014. In October 2014, at Ukrainian Design, the studio received Best of for the Estetico.me website, and the logo for Pershyi Miskyi was recognized with the Best of C-I-5 category. Even earlier, on December 5, 2013, Awwwards awarded the bureau an Honorable Mention for the previous version of its own website.
What happened next
In 2015, the studio's own website began collecting awards on international platforms. On June 13, CSS Winner featured it as site of the day, and on August 8, Awwwards granted it the title “Site of the Day” with a score of 7.03. Awwwards is an international website-rating platform for web design, where a jury assigns points for design, usability, and creativity, and the “Site of the Day” title is given to the best works of the day.
On October 22, 2015, the Golden Site 2015 ceremony took place in Moscow. The Sponge website took first place in the “Digital Agency Website” category, and the developer ranking by which participants were evaluated placed the studio in the 17–19 group with 9 points.
