28 Behance Curator Badges

By · · 4 min read

The Sponge profile on Behance, opened on 23 August 2013, had by October 2026 collected 28 curator badges across 48 public projects. The first badge went to the Alien reel in September 2014; the last went to the OneClickMoney website in June 2018.

Behance belongs to Adobe and serves as a showcase for the portfolios of designers, illustrators and motion artists. One of the platform's chief features is its curated galleries: Behance's editors assemble themed selections and pick out the work they consider noteworthy. A curator badge means a project was spotted not in the general feed but in a specific gallery, and for a studio that mark of attention matters more than a chance spike in views.

The Sponge profile appeared in August 2013, and that same year the bureau earned notable recognition beyond Behance. On 5 December 2013 its website received an Honorable Mention at Awwwards, the international web design award where sites are judged by experts. In spring 2014 the studio came to the attention of professional communities and entered the 15th Kyiv International Advertising Festival, submitting seven entries, though it took no awards there. It was during this period that the bureau's first works began appearing on Behance, and the first curator badge went to the Alien reel: it was published in August 2014 and on 2 September received a badge in the Motion Graphics gallery, that is, animated design.

What exactly the curators flagged

Of the 28 badges, fifteen went to work in the User Interface category. These are projects where the main subject is built not around an image but around how a person moves through the path inside a product. Five badges fell to Web Design, the same number to Motion Design, and one to Brands. Standing apart are two Best of Behance badges, which coverage of the studio calls the highest of all.

Outside selections also confirmed the visibility of the work. On 30 June 2015 the Madonna project appeared on Behance, and on 21 September 2015 Sostav included it in its roundup "Best Projects of the Summer from Behance" in the motion design section. That same summer the bureau featured on specialist CSS sites: according to Awwwards, its Site of the Day was awarded on 8 August 2015, and on 14 August 2015 the studio received CSSDA Special Kudos for a site aimed at an American audience.

After the peak

The last curator badges came in 2017 and 2018, but industry attention to the studio did not fade. In the Rating Runeta ranking of digital agencies for 2017 the bureau took fourth place in the creativity category; in 2018 it rose to tenth with 51 awards. In 2018 Sergei Semernyov, Art Director of Sponge D&D, gave a master class at the Hillel school on 12 July, and in September 2018, in a job listing on, the studio described itself thus:

"more than 60 awards in two years"

The last Behance curator badge came on 15 June 2018, for the OneClickMoney website.

In 2019 Rating Runeta placed the bureau 37th with 51 awards, and the line for its head named Bohdan Hnatiuk, the studio's founder. The studio itself continued to appear in rankings and on specialist platforms, but no new curator badges on Behance have appeared since.

What the profile shows today

As of 27 September 2026, none of the 28 flagged works had been hidden, and all remained open to view. As of 19 October 2026, the Sponge profile on Behance counted 387,933 views, 41,391 appreciations and 7,884 followers. All 28 curator badges are still visible across the studio's 48 public works.
