Furgoneta delivers food, and its menu is built on two lines: American burgers with handmade sauces and pan-Asian noodles with rice. In this business, a website does the job of a shop window and a cash register at the same time. It is through the site that a person chooses a dish, pays for the order and forms a first impression of the company, so design galleries evaluate not only the visuals but also how clearly the interface guides the user from menu to payment.
Three awards in nine days
Awwwards is considered one of the most famous international showcases of contemporary web design. An Honorable Mention goes to works that did not make the main winners but were noted by the jury. On 30 January 2016, Furgoneta appeared on that list. Five days later, CSS Winner, another gallery with a daily selection of the best sites, named it Site of the Day. On the agency's CSS Winner profile, such marks are collected into a complete work history, so each new entry records a specific project result.
On 7 February it was CSS Nectar's turn, a gallery where one project is chosen each day. The work's card states that the site was made by Sponge D&D from Ukraine, with the mark dated 7 February 2016. For the studio, this meant that the same work had passed the selection of three different platforms with different criteria and different juries, rather than receiving one random compliment.
A studio that builds its reputation step by step
Sponge D&D operates as a digital agency: websites, interfaces and branding projects for clients in Ukraine and abroad. The bureau is also publicly known for its own work. The studio's own website received Site of the Day on CSS Winner in June 2015 and Site of the Day on Awwwards in August. In October of the same year, at the Golden Site 2015 competition, the bureau's work took first place in the digital agencies category.
Judging by a 2014 interview, the studio had a stable team and a clear structure. Executive director Kirill Solyar spoke about the bureau's work in an Innabits interview, while lead designer Sergey Semernyov was responsible for the visual side of projects. Founder Bohdan Hnatiuk assembled a team around the studio that in two years moved from local competitions to international galleries. That is why Furgoneta's awards look not like a lucky break but like the continuation of consistent work.
Gold in the restaurant category
The Golden Site is an annual competition for websites of the Russian-speaking internet, where works are judged in thematic categories. In autumn 2016, Furgoneta will win gold in the Restaurant, Cafe, Bar Website category, taking first place. This will be the project's second major competition win in 2016 after the international galleries, and the category itself will determine how much more convenient and expressive the delivery service's site proved to be compared with other restaurant establishments.
