The Golden Site Awards judges websites by category, and in each one entries are compared against specific rivals. In the restaurants, cafés and bars group, Furgoneta left behind McDonald's, whose site is listed as, and Tarelka Stolovaya (The Canteen Plate). The food delivery service thus outperformed a fast-food chain whose resource is designed for a mass audience and usually built to rigid brand standards.
The second victory came in a category comparing online stores of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturers and mono-brand shops. Here Trendon edged out Franco Gaetano and Royal Canin. The latter is known as a pet food manufacturer, and its online showcase was a serious rival in terms of catalogue size and brand recognition.
What Stood Behind the Awards
By the time of the competition, Furgoneta already had a notable track record in international galleries. On 30 January 2016, the site received an Awwwards Honorable Mention, one of the main international awards in web design. On 4 February it became Site of the Day on CSS Winner, a gallery that selects works for visual quality and technical implementation, and on 7 February it was also featured on CSS Nectar, which likewise chooses a Site of the Day. For the design community this is an important signal: the work passes several independent expert reviews in a row, and each provides a separate quality report.
The Golden Site gold consolidated this result within the Russian-language professional field. The studio did not limit itself to a single project. The bureau's own website was named Awwwards Site of the Day on 8 August 2015 with a score of 7.03, and that same year it received several marks on CSS Winner, CSS Nectar and BestCSS. In the Ukrainian Design competition, the bureau's site won Best of in category B-1, so international and national perspectives aligned.
Place in the Ranking
The competition results were reflected in the rankings. According to Ruward, which compares developer creativity based on the 2016 Golden Site results, the studio took places 13 through 18, scoring ten points and rising four positions. Two first places gave five points each. In the Ruward table the work is listed under the name Evolut, but this refers to Sponge.
A year earlier the picture was more modest. At the 2015 Golden Site Awards, Sponge's website took first place in the Digital Agency Website category, and in the developer ranking the studio was in 17th–19th place with nine points. The growth the following year came precisely from the two gold-winning works, as the difference in points and position shows.
Among other rankings of that season, note the VRK rating for the 2015/2016 season, where the bureau took 8th place among digital agencies with 29 points, and the 2016 Runet Rating for creativity, where the studio was on the 11th line. These positions give a fuller picture than a single category.
What Came Next
Trendon continued working on its online store after the competition. On 13 June 2016, the site received an Awwwards Honorable Mention, and on 10 July it became Site of the Day on CSS Winner. Ukrainian Design in 2016 also honoured the Trendon online store with a Best of award in category B-1, repeating the success of the bureau's website five years earlier and cementing the studio's standing in the Ukrainian and international professional community.
