BizzGrid: Two Awards in Two Days Kick Off 2017 for Sponge

By · · 4 min read

On January 16, 2017, Awwwards awarded the BizzGrid site an Honorable Mention, and the next day CSS Winner named it Site of the Day with a score of 7.6. For Sponge, the studio of founder Bogdan Gnatyuk, these two awards in two days became the first high-profile recognitions of the new year.

BizzGrid is described as a multi-purpose marketing tool for business networking and events. The work is dated 2016 and falls under the telecommunications and SaaS category—that is, software services that clients connect to via the internet and use on a subscription basis. Such a project is ideal for showcasing design: the interface must be clear to a business user from the first screen, while the visual language cannot remain generic.

Awwwards is considered one of the most renowned international platforms for web design. The jury and community evaluate sites based on visual design, usability, and technical implementation. The Honorable Mention is below the top status of Site of the Day, but it signifies that the work stood out among submissions in its period. On January 16, 2017, Awwwards recognized BizzGrid with exactly such a mention.

Two Recognitions in a Row

CSS Winner, a gallery that selects sites with strong visual presentation, responded to this accolade the very next day. On January 17, 2017, the project received the title Site of the Day with a score of 7.6. In the Awwwards description, the work is called: “the BizzGrid company website… a multi-purpose marketing tool.”

For Sponge, this sequence was no accident. The studio had previously received recognition on the same platforms, and these evaluations helped build a solid reputation. Bogdan Gnatyuk founded the bureau and leads it, and the studio's projects have consistently appeared in international selections over several years.

What Stood Behind the Past Year

In 2016, Sponge's sites were already receiving awards one after another. Furgoneta earned an Awwwards Honorable Mention on January 30, and CSS Winner awarded it Site of the Day on February 4. Three days later, on February 7, the work also appeared in CSS Nectar as Site of the Day. Trendon received an Honorable Mention on Awwwards on June 13 and the title Site of the Day on CSS Winner on July 10. Defence Group was noted by Awwwards on August 3, White Tetris received an Awwwards nomination on August 30, and Simbrella earned an Awwwards Honorable Mention on November 30 and a Star on CSS Winner on December 11.

Domestically, the 2016 results were also notable. At the Golden Site 2016 competition, Furgoneta and Trendon took first places in their categories, and in the developer ranking the studio landed in the 13–18 range with 10 points. In the 2015/2016 season of the VRK, Sponge ranked eighth among digital agencies with 29 points. In the Runet creativity ranking for 2016, the studio took 11th place.

The path in 2015 looks even more indicative. The bureau's own site went through a long chain of recognitions: CSSDA marked it Website of the Day on May 24 with a score of 7.80, followed by CSS Nectar Site of the Day on May 29, CSS Light Find of the Day on June 3, and CSS Winner Site of the Day on June 13 with a score of 7.5. This period culminated in Site of the Day on Awwwards on August 8 with a score of 7.03. In the fall, at Golden Site 2015, the Sponge site took first place in the “Digital Agency Website” category on October 22.

Thus, by January 2017, the studio had a series of awards behind it that began long before BizzGrid. The new pair of recognitions confirmed the direction the bureau had chosen for several years running: websites for business where design serves to make the product clear. For Sponge, 2017 began with two accolades on the two most prominent platforms in the industry.
