Awwwards is considered one of the leading international platforms for web design. Every day it selects the best site of the day, and inclusion in this list is seen in the professional community as serious recognition. The score is based on four criteria: design, usability, creativity and content. Pivovarov's work received 7.35 for design, 6.88 for usability, 7.09 for creativity and 7.12 for content. The final 7.13 out of 10 shows that the jury rated the visual side of the project highly, while usability proved the weakest point—a typical story for sites with a pronounced authorial style: a striking image and simple navigation rarely come together without compromise.
Glitch and horizontal gallery
The platform singled out two elements. The first, the glitch effect on the homepage, is a deliberate visual malfunction of the image. In the project for the musician it works as a visual analogue of sound, and that is precisely why the jury paid attention to the combination of image and music. The second element, the horizontal navigation of the gallery, changes the usual logic of browsing: instead of vertical scrolling, the visitor moves sideways and flips through works like the pages of an album. The Awwwards description also lists the technology stack: Laravel, HTML5 and sound.

For the studio, such a task meant working not with a product catalogue or a corporate showcase, but with a personality who is just starting a career. In this context, the sound accompaniment becomes part of the concept rather than a decorative addition.
A week of awards and the studio's standing
The Awwwards Site of the Day was not the project's only award. From 23 to 25 August 2017, the work received several recognitions in succession. On 23 August the site was chosen as Site of the Day on CSS Winner with a score of 7.6. On 24 August it received Special Kudos on CSS Design Awards with a score of 7.63. On 25 August, the same day as the Awwwards publication, the project was marked with the Developer Award, which the platform bestows for technical implementation.
The project card in the studio's portfolio lists seven awards from international juries, including Site of the Day from Awwwards. By that time, studio Sponge already had experience with this platform. On 8 August 2015, the bureau's own site also received Site of the Day on Awwwards, with a score of 7.03. The studio's profile on CSS Winner lists 21 nominations, 6 stars and 9 Sites of the Day, and Bohdan Hnatiuk remains the founder of the bureau.
Work on Pivovarov's site came at a time when the studio was consistently reaching the international level. That same summer, on 23 August, the bureau's site was not the only contender for recognition, and the year as a whole brought several notable marks for Sponge's projects. In January 2017, the BizzGrid site received an Awwwards Honorable Mention and CSS Winner Site of the Day. In early February, the M1 Club Hotel site received Site of the Day on CSS Winner and BestCSS, and on 1 May CSS Winner awarded Arbeko the title of Star.
In the 2017 Runet creativity ranking, the studio took fourth place. In the autumn its works continued to receive awards: on 13 September Style Whisperer was marked with an Awwwards Honorable Mention, on 16 September it was awarded CSS Winner Star, and on 21 September the site received Special Kudos on CSS Design Awards with a score of 7.63. The last in this series was the mark for the Helicopter View project: on 28 September 2017 it received CSS Winner Star.
